Chasing her dream, Greeley West senior Iyanna Martinez has officially signed to play collegiate softball at the University of Northern Colorado. By committing to UNC, Martinez will continue her athletic and academic career in her hometown. Martinez is the second Greeley West softball player to stay in town, as Ellyse Hydock signed with the Bears last year.Â
Martinez has been a key piece to the success of the Greeley West softball program throughout her four years of high school. Her signing shows her dedication and years of hard work for her love of the game.
For Martinez, choosing UNC was about more than just softball. Staying in Greeley allows her to remain close to her family, coaches, and community that has supported her throughout her journey. She is proud to be a Bear and represent where she comes from.Â
As her time with Greeley West comes to an end, she has left a lasting impact on the softball program and set an example for the younger athletes.Â
Martinez begins the next chapter of her softball career, ready to represent the community that shaped her into the athlete she is today.
