A new and exciting chapter is beginning for Greeley West High School girls soccer as the program welcomes new head coach John Rhine, who hopes to provide a cultural reset and a positive start to the upcoming season.
Rhine hosted a meet and greet where he explained his eagerness to bring a new set of eyes to the team and focus on growth within the program. He is ready and prepared to get this season going.
Senior Eva Grimaldo hopes the new leadership will create more equal opportunities across the program. “I really hope he gives all the girls a fair chance to showcase their talents, because there is so much across all levels, and I think equal opportunities will help everyone grow and make the team stronger,” Grimaldo said.
While change can bring excitement, it can also bring a load of nerves, especially for seniors entering their final season. Senior Elizabeth Chihuahua spoke on her uncertainty about this transition. “I’m a little scared having an entirely new coaching staff for my senior year,” Chihuahua said. “But I think Coach Rhine will be a good fit and a good thing for the program.”
With this clean slate, there are plenty of ways to try something new or revisit old hobbies. The team will hold outdoor preseason sessions every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to sunset around 5:15 p.m. Show out as Greeley West girls soccer steps into a new era.
