The Greeley West girls tennis team kick off their 2026 season today with a home match against Severance.

Coach Ryan Pace had some expectations for the upcoming season saying, “ This season we are replacing 9 of 15 due to them being seniors last year. We have a very new team.”

Pace does not expect there to be a big drop off from last year’s performances, however.  “I really don’t expect to drop so much because our returners are so strong. I want to see the team improve throughout the season and hopefully by the end we are competing to go to state,” Pace explained.

The players’ mindset is always huge too to start off a brand new season and Pace had some words to say about that too. “ I want them to have optimism. I think competing and movement are two things that we can control, but optimism is the big one. And I don’t care if we’re playing Greeley Central or playing Fossil Ridge. I want us to have the same optimistic mindset,” Pace said.

Pace also mentioned the reason why people should come out and support the girls tennis team saying, “ I’m so lucky to be surrounded by them. They are great individuals, great human beings. Also in the last three years our girls tennis team has been top 15 in the state. They’ve been super successful.”
