Greeley West had four outstanding choir students who performed at Colorado’s All-State Choir at the Buell Theater in Denver. Seniors Saras Arscott and Kennedy Ader were joined by juniors Fatima Lone and Harrison Barnett. They traveled to Denver for three days where they rehearsed and performed.
“It was a really good experience, just to be around the top musicians in the state, it is amazing because everything is on point,” stated Arscott.
On students arrived in Denver on January 9 and performed a second audition where they had to sing two songs from the six songs that they were given. They did not know what songs they would be asked to sing, so they had to make sure to memorize all of the songs. They got three chances to do their auditions; if you failed all of them they had to go home.
On Friday, they had practice and rehearsals until 5 p.m. Then, they did a balcony sing. The balcony sing was that each choir took up two or three levels and they each sang a song. “The balcony sing was my favorite part, because every choir sounded incredible and it was so cool to hear everyone in that lively space,” stated junior Fatima Lone.
The last day – Saturday – was the concert where they got to showcase their incredible talent and hard work in front of an audience. “My favorite part of the concert was our director spoke about what we had been doing the past few days, because it was so awesome,” said Lone.
