The Greeley West AVID sophomore class recently had the opportunity to visit Colorado State University (CSU) for an educational field trip, giving students a firsthand look at college life and future possibilities.
During the visit, students toured the campus, explored academic buildings, and learned about different programs offered at CSU. The trip was designed to help sophomores start thinking about their plans after high school and to introduce them to a real college environment.
Many students found the experience both exciting and motivating. “The campus was really beautiful, and it made me think more seriously about going to college,” said sophomore Nadia Serrano “It felt like a place where I could see myself in the future.”
In addition to touring the campus, students had the chance to sit in on informational sessions led by CSU staff. These sessions covered topics such as admissions, financial aid, and student life. For some, this was their first time learning about what it takes to apply to a university.
Sophomore Nevah Salazar shared how the trip changed his perspective. “Before this, I didn’t really know what college would be like,” he said. “Now I feel more confident and interested in continuing my education after high school.”
Teachers who organized the trip emphasized the importance of exposing students to college campuses early on. By visiting CSU, students were able to ask questions, explore opportunities, and imagine themselves pursuing higher education.
