The Greeley West High School Pride of the Spartans Marching Band attended the Colorado State Fair and performed a piece they have been working on for a few months now.
After everything, they believe their hard work paid off. Mr. Keaton Michel said, “The band did an absolutely amazing job and I’m so proud of how they represented Greeley West.”
The band had so much fun and loved every minute of it, even the not so great parts. Sophomore Alliyah Jacobs explained, “There are always things we need to work on, but overall it was so fun and everyone did a wonderful job communicating and working together.”
One of the biggest stressors to Jacobs was the amount of people the band was performing for.
“Being in front of a big audience was definitely scary and the bus ride took a way longer time than we expected and stressed everyone out, but in the end we performed beautifully,” Jacobs said.
Senior Ileene Garcilazo agreed saying, “We presented well, I am so proud of everyone for working so hard in the very hot weather and we all did great being kind and supportive the entire time. We learned a lot and there were many lessons learned this day but the more we practice the better we will end up doing in future performances.”
As they continue to work on new projects and go through the year, they have high hopes.
“This trip gave us more confidence to perform in front of large crowds and this will push us to do better and be more prepared each time,” Michel stated.
